Hardware requirements
Avoid problems down the line
Have you decided to work with Palette CAD and want to know what the technical requirements are? Or are you thinking about investing in new digital devices? Then we have some important information for you. Below is a list of the minimum requirements and our recommendations for your devices and hardware in order for the 3D software and all its features to work as smoothly as possible.
Essentially, a normal Windows PC is all you need to run Palette CAD, provided that it’s configured for graphics applications – a powerful graphics card is extremely important. Otherwise, the faster the computer, the smoother the design process. And the higher your screen resolution, the more detailed you can make your designs.
For notebooks and laptops we recommend the following hardware components:
Processor (CPU): Intel Core Ultra 7
Graphics card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
Memory (RAM): 32 GB DDR5
Operating system: Microsoft-supported version of Windows (64-bit) (Windows 11 recommended)
For desktop PCs we recommend the following hardware components:
Processor (CPU): Intel Core Ultra 7
Graphics card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
Memory (RAM): 32 GB DDR5
Operating system: Microsoft-supported version of Windows (64-bit) (Windows 11 recommended)
For the optimal use of the Palette CAD apps (Palette Home and Palette Move), we recommend the following mobile devices. Please note that these recommendations are provided without guarantee:
- All iPhones running iOS 12 or later
- All iPads, iPad Airs and iPad Pros from 2019 onwards (minimum iOS 12) are supported. (Excluding iPad minis)
- Samsung / Huawei / Asus devices with a screen size of 8 inches or larger / ARM64 (minimum Android 9.0)
Whichever mobile device you choose, please make sure that it is equipped with a gyroscope (acceleration and orientation sensor).
For the best results, use an up-to-date photo inkjet or colour laser printer.

We recommend the following hardware to get the most out of VR glasses:

Internet access
Palette CAD requires the use of an NVIDIA graphics card. Two product series are available: GeForce and Quadro, as well as the GTX and RTX product ranges.
The GTX range was replaced by the more powerful RTX series in January 2015. While the GeForce series was primarily designed for use in video games, the Quadro series is intended for professional CAD applications.
However, as Palette CAD is developed based on the GeForce architecture, we explicitly recommend the use of a GeForce graphics card. Although Quadro cards feature optimised drivers for software such as 3D Studio Max or Cinema 4D, there are no specific driver optimisations for Palette CAD, which may lead to problems in some cases. We therefore advise against using the Quadro series.

- Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX series from GTX 1060 or RTX series
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11 (the latest Service Pack is always required)
A broadband internet connection is recommended.
We recommend using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari (version 17 or later on macOS).
For the best experience with Palette Rooms in mobile browsers, we recommend using a current-generation high-performance tablet.
Palette Rooms is supported on tablets using Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android.
